Wheel Chair Donations

Organisations such as hospitals, rehabilitation centres and homes for senior citizens daily interact with many persons who are affected with challenges that limit and or prevent mobility. Wheel chairs are just one form to assist the caregivers in daily routines and the help the individual regain some independence. In collaboration with the Mohani Thani Foundation, the club distributed 55 wheelchairs to organisations in Georgetown.

Representatives of the organisations which include West Demerara Regional Hospital, The Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre, The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, the Gentlemen Outreach, Ladies of Charity, the Palms Geriatric Home and the Rehabilitation Centre of the Ministry of Public Health expressed their appreciation to the club and the Mohan Thani Foundation for the gesture.

One representative, was moved with the receipt of the peadiatric wheelchairs as it personally affects her when she see parents trying to lift an eight year old who is unable to walk at the time. As we celebrate our sixtieth year of dedicated service to varying communities in Guyana, in six main areas
Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
Disease prevention and treatment
Water and sanitation
Maternal and child health
Basic education and literacy
Economic and community development

The club will continue to partner Mohani Thani and other organisations offering "Service above Self" and through the small gestures we will work to see the vision where "Rotary Connects The World"
Donation to Toy Library

Through ongoing collaboration with the National Library to promote "Education and Literacy" from a tender age, a collection of books and toys donated by members of the club we handed over to the Toy Library. Members of the club and their families spent the morning playing and reading with the young ones at the library.
